“The phrase ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ couldn’t be more true, especially now,” says Raleigh native and interior designer Cameron Jones, who loves to decorate with antiques and vintage finds. “Everyone is updating their homes right now, because they’re stuck in them — so it’s the perfect time to score second-hand.”

Particularly since the onset of the pandemic, Jones has tapped into a host of local Instagram accounts to shop for her clients. She says that beyond limiting contact with others, this way of shopping is a great way to see the items in use. And since they’re local, many of these brands offer free delivery or porch pick up, or charge a minimal shipping fee.

So if you’re not ready to shop in person yet but missing the thrill of the hunt at antique shops, consider these 10 local Instagram accounts to find vintage home accessories, furniture and more.

Beau and Dandy Goods

Named for owner Ashleigh’s golden retriever Beau, this is a go-to spot for cool, unique home finds. You can find everything from umbrella stands to mirrors to smaller accessories at this shop.

Cameron Jones Interiors

Since Jones often ends up with pieces she doesn’t end up using for her clients, she has a small shop of affordable vintage and trade accessories.

Chalk it Up

Kristi Abernethy Van Zyl is based in Raleigh and has carved a niche of sourcing vintage furniture, then painting it. She sells pieces she refurbished herself and also allows clients to purchase a piece and collaborate on the design.

Curated and Company

“Based in Smithfield, NC, owner Jessica is the queen of bright, happy vintage finds,” says Jones. Fabulous vases, brass sconces, vintage rugs and colorful accents are things to source from her.

KP Bungalow

Based in Kernersville, this feed is a hidden gem for affordable, high-quality vintage furniture. It’s a great place to look for end tables and nightstands — though you never know what you might find.

Modern Prolific

A minimalist and Mid-century modern lover’s heaven, this shop’s account is full of retro furniture, plus wall hangings, brass accessories and more to complement the larger pieces.

Plate and Plaid

The curated blues and whites, brass and vintage art in this feed are enough to catch your eye. Own Kim Dowdel has a more-is-more vintage aesthetic with great accessories for the home.

The Cary Cottage

“Sally is based in Cary (hence the name!) and sells a fantastic mix of rugs, furniture, art and smaller accessories. I have clients who have scored some of the coolest art from her,” says Jones. Expect a mix of classic, worldly and modern items in this shop.

Rail and Stile

Led by a husband and wife duo Kelly Schupp and her husband Cromwell, this vintage furniture shop and lacquer studio is the spot for Hollywood regency furniture, faux bamboo and vintage mirrors you never knew you needed.

The Uncommon Collector

“Ashlyn Goldberg is truly a thrifting queen with a feed that’s a perfect mix of natural-toned pieces like wooden trays, cream ceramics and woven baskets plus vintage art to complement it,” says Jones. The Durham-based stylist rearranges her own home on the regular and frequently sells vintage pieces as she ushers things in and out. Her prices are reasonable and her pieces exude both patina and soul.
