5 Spots Where You Can Sip While You Shop

These Raleigh stores offer more than retail — they have bars on site, too!
by Emily Gajda

Running from store to store, scarf around your neck and checklist in hand, trying to find that perfect gift for that one special person — holiday shopping can be a strenuous act, not intended for the faint of heart.

Enter: the in-store cocktail.

A few Raleigh stores have figured it out: if you offer guests a drink, they’re more likely to slow down, relax, and browse a while. Whether you like IPAs, mimosas or bourbon, each of these five shops offers the option of savoring craft beverages while you shop. And with a diverse range of offerings (see: menswear, vinyl, houseplants, and more) your next shopping expedition may better resemble a bar crawl than a mad dash around the mall. Cheers to that!

If you’ve ever wandered the aisles of a nursery and wished you could sip on a mimosa while you did it, Atlantic Gardening might be the place for you. With a nursery, greenhouse, floral studio and the Garden Bar, the shop’s six acres offer a vast selection of plants, gardening tools and libations alike. The bar’s menu includes seven beer varieties, wine and mimosas, and even cold brew coffee for shoppers who prefer the caffeinated kind of pick-me-up.

Looking for a record shop, live music or a bar with character — why not stop somewhere that has all three? The first floor music hall hosts two full service bars and live music most nights. Upstairs, you can find a record shop with 5 varieties of beer on tap to make thumbing through records even more fun.
