For many of us, our homes are our new, possibly permanent, places of work. So consider it an opportunity to carve out a space that you want to be in, one that makes it easy to stay organized, creative and productive. And because you’re at home—without the confines of a cube wall, or eyes of coworkers to consider—it’s also an opportunity to incorporate personal touches, like art from a local illustrator or an antique you love. Below, we’ve rounded up local spots that will help you put together the office space you’ve always wanted.

For Organization:

Minimal, modern design outpost Port of Raleigh (open in-store and online) makes organizing look sleek and stylish with their wide-range of products that aim to “elevate every day.” If like many, your workspace travels around the home, check out their Elin Desk and Workshop Caddy or this folio. If your workspace is stationary (lucky you!), this metallic magazine and mail rack or these muted-toned HAY trays are just a few of their organizational desk accessories that can help keep your desk tidy.

For Pen and Paper Products:

Get custom stationery from PaperBuzz (open but limited hours) for thank you cards and other old-fashioned snail mail. It’s not too late in the year to try to stay up-to-date with a planner or calendar. Raleigh-based UpStudio (order online or at local retailers) has leather-bound weekly and monthly planners, desk notepads and pencils too.

For the Walls:

For cozy vintage touches, Union Camp Collective is open and has loads of inventory online, from vintage clocks to paintings. Deco (re-opening soon) is full of options for one’s walls, from locally embroidered hoop art to maps of Raleigh and other parts of NC from local illustrator Emily Brooks Davis. Or how about an air plant from ZEN Succulent to bring a bit of outdoors in?

For Little Ones:

Trying to work full-time from home with little ones who are also home full-time is no joke. Keep a stash of coloring or picture books from Edge of Urge on hand to buy a bit of extra time if you’re desperate. Their pickle eraser and fortune cookie eraser and sticky notes are handy desktop items that are also a huge hit with little ones.

For Hydration, a Snack Stash of Caffeine Fix:

Keep your physical and mental state in check with a steady flow cold-press juice from Raleigh Raw which can be delivered right to your door. A snack stash of Big Spoon Roasters Nut Butter Bars would be nice too. Or for a small caffeine fix, pick up a few artisan chocolate bars from local chocolate maker, Escazu who is doing curbside pick-up. Slingshot Coffee can keep the cold-brew flowing all day if you need it.

For Furniture:

Furnish on Glenwood has an entire office range to choose from, including bookshelves, desks, chairs and file cabinets. It’s always worth popping into a local thrift shop like A to Z Thrift Store, Dorcas Thrift Shop, De Ja Vu (opening soon) where you never know if your perfect vintage desk, office chair or area rug is waiting for you.
