For our 2023 Guide to Where to Eat and Drink in the Triangle, we surveyed a dozen food industry folks to find their go-to spots for everything from an elegant date night to a casual drink, to the best place to bring someone in from out-of-town. One of those folks was Raleigh Wine Shop owner Liz Porcelli. The Bloodworth Street spot offers more than just wine retail but food pop-up events, by-the-glass options, and a great space for friends and family to connect. When Porcelli isn’t sharing her wine knowledge with Raleigh, here are her favorite eateries and bars in town.
Where do you go for a good craft beverage?
Vault Craft Beer. I like anything seasonal or on tap!

Slim’s for beers, Woody’s for wings

Longleaf Swine BBQ
Where do you like to take an out-of-towner?
Stanbury. It’s the most unique spot with the most unique menu that’s always rotating and fresh! Peak Raleigh food scene!
What’s your favorite coffee spot?
Layered Croissanterie, so I can get a croissant, too!
What’s your favorite brunch place?
St. Roch
What and where would your last meal on earth be?
Chido Taco. I love the quesabirria tacos.
What chef should we watch out for?
Preeti Waas of Cheeni Indian Food Emporium
What’s somewhere worth the drive?
Matsu Hibachi & Sushi in East Raleigh. For me it’s in my neighborhood, but a short drive for those downtown.
What’s your favorite meal to order to-go?
