Built more than 100 years ago and owned by the legendary Dr. John Reuer of NC State's College of Design, the current owners commissioned a thoughtful renovation with Katherine Hogan Architects for an addition, but wanted to carry on its local legacy. The result was an award-winning project with a dramatic two-story circulation hall connecting the original historic home and the modern wings. The historic portion features light-filled formal rooms, 10-foot ceilings, intricate woodwork and a grand entry foyer with an elegant staircase. The modern expansion introduces open-concept living with floor-to-ceiling glass walls overlooking a private landscaped bamboo garden.
