On Apr. 14, Harper’s Home broke ground on its first residential cottages in Durham. Heather Hindin and her daughter, Harper Harrell, founded the nonprofit after 8-year-old Harper’s cancer diagnosis brought them into contact with families who had relocated to Durham for their own children’s care and were struggling to find stable and affordable housing near the hospital. Harper’s Home meets these families’ needs by providing private, no-cost housing for those facing long-term pediatric care at Duke Children’s Hospital.
