On Dec. 10, the LGBT Center of Raleigh celebrated the grand opening of its new community center with a ribbon cutting. The center brings resources and programs to the local LGBTQ+ community in a physical space for the first time since 2020. This continues its mission of building supportive networks, sharing resources and providing a “third place” for families, youth, older adults, trans and gender expansive people in the Triangle. The new space, which also includes one of the largest LGBTQ+ libraries in the Southeast, was backed by a $300,000 donation from Cooper Tacia, with global architecture firm Gensler behind the innovative, inclusive and accessible design aspects of the project.
