SAVE THE DATE

WALTER magazine’s seventh annual WINnovation summit, celebrating female innovation, diversity, and the entrepreneurial spirit, returns this fall!

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17

The WALTER team is thrilled to return to the Umstead Hotel & Spa for the in-person event this year. We will also offer this event virtually to expand the reach of these powerful messages and career tools.

At WINnovation, guests can participate in interactive workshops, meet fellow innovators in networking sessions, and hear from local leaders on their career journeys and lessons they’ve learned along the way.

*We are closely monitoring the rise in COVID-19 cases and plan to follow any and all regulations in place by the date of this event.*

STARTUP WORKSHOPS

This year WINnovation offers three Startup Workshops to provide new tools for career growth:

WORKSHOP 1: HIGHLY DIVERSE COMPANIES: WHAT DO THEY DO DIFFERENTLY?
Led by Mary Hemphill-Joseph, PhD | Facilitator with The Authenticity Guide
Over the past 18 months, leaders at every level are tackling their approach to DE+I components related to compassion fatigue, unconscious bias, social equity, and highly inclusive practices of diverse companies. In our ever-changing climate, it is critical that individuals have an opportunity to engage authentically with their colleagues to discuss and tackle topics that continue to be a critical part of the global narrative for 2021. Research shows that companies that activate intentional discussion & education around critical topics are 50% more successful in creating psychologically safe & comfortable workplaces for their employees to address and effectively deal with critical topics.

WORKSHOP 2: MENTAL FITNESS: HOW TO THRIVE IN CHALLENGING TIMES
Led by Julia Wench | Founder and CEO of The Authenticity Guide
Participants will learn what Positive Intelligence is, and what it has to do with mental fitness (and how it’s different from resilience). You’ll get to know the specific characters in your mind that are getting in your way and hijacking you, preventing you from achieving your full potential for joy. Participants will come away with knowledge about the three mental muscles required to switch over to the parts of your brain that engage happiness and success, rather than stress.

WORKSHOP 3: HOW TO SUSTAINABLY BUILD YOUR TEAM & TRACK YOUR SUCCESS
Led by Brooke Markevicius | Founder and CEO of Allobee
Through this workshop, Allobee will help business owners get out of the overwhelm stage and into taking action with the support stage. Business owners will learn how to track their success on outsourcing projects via a metrics scorecard. At the completion of the webinar attendees will leave with actionable ways to sustainably scale your business and track your success.

OUR 2021 PANELISTS

Hear from local leaders on their career journeys, the successes and hurdles, and lessons they’ve learned along the way.
