4 Cocktails Made with Local Spirits

Raleigh-made liquors are popping up around town—try these recipes to use some of our favorites to create an at-home cocktail.

Have you noticed that the shelves at your liquor store are filling up with spirits from Raleigh and beyond? Now, locals have options to experience a new flavor—take a gin distillery tour, say, or head to a whiskey tasting—but you can also grab a bottle of your favorite booze to mix into a cocktail at home. If your idea of shopping local involves sipping home-grown drinks, try one of these recipes made with North Carolina spirits.

Lonerider Spirits

Lonerider is know as the outlaw beer brewer in Raleigh, and they’ve have taken on a new venture: whiskey. Try making the Femme Fatale at home, which includes Lonerider Sherry Cask whiskey with a pour of the brand’s mainstay, Sweet Josie. Simple syrup and an egg white make the drink sweet and frothy.

Pinetop Distillery

Made at Dock 1053 in Raleigh, Pinetop Distillery uses the continuous method of distillation to create an ultra-pure product. The Martinez, resembling a Manhattan, is the predecessor to the Martini. Try Pinetop’s version using its Carolina Gin.

Raleigh Rum

Made in its namesake town, Raleigh Rum is keeping it local. The trio of friends that created the booze has teamed up with Larry’s Coffee to develop the Coffee Cabana cocktail using their cold brew blend. Top it with coconut cream for the full effect.
