Alicia Gilleskie Lupton and her husband, Kevin, were drawn to the walkable, charming nature of their Five Points neighborhood. Both North Carolina natives, the couple moved to their home, customized by Dixon Kirby, almost two years ago. The Luptons says the neighborhood just felt right for their family, which includes two young daughters, Olivia and Alexandra. “The combination of charm and proximity to downtown is not something that you can find just anywhere. It’s part of what makes Raleigh so special to us,” she says.
The couple says they came into the construction process at the perfect time. “The architecture was complete and building was underway when we discovered the house. We immediately fell in love with it,” says Gilleskie Lupton. “With the hardest work done at that point, we were still early enough in the process to pick paint colors, floor finishes, countertops, light fixtures, add a garage and some built-ins, as well as other fun aesthetic choices.”
With the help of Lisa Sherry Interieurs, the couple was able to combine their love of modern and traditional styles to create their dream home. “My husband and I had many of the base furniture pieces, and we worked with Lisa to fill in gaps and create more interesting style,” Gilleskie Lupton says. “She has a completely unique aesthetic, and her design gives our home a sense of calm, while not feeling boring or overdecorated.”
